The tert-butyl molecule is a highly stable photochemical compound. The water-dispersing film made using this solvent has a high storage stability, in particular under conditions of low temperatures during winter. ETB, as a solvent ink or as a diluteant in printing ink can improve the rheology and gloss of the ink.

Applications ETB 2-Tert-Butoxyethanol:

ETB can be added to amino and Nitrocellulose paints in order to reduce "orange peeling" and increase the gloss of paints by 2 - 6%. ETB, as a solvent made from ink or as a dilute dispersant in the printing ink can improve the rheology, gloss and adhesion. ETB can be used to extract fibers. Alien Signal used ETB for the extraction of 76% polyethylene fibers with mineral oil. This reduced mineral oil content to 0.15%. Asahi Electric Company of Japan used it as a household cleaner. After treating the polyoxy-propane monobutyl ether with ETB and propylene oxide, they obtained polyoxy-propane m-butyl ether.
