voice over voices,
stream of rolling tongues;
touching, grasping,
kissing these Latin lyrics
as they escape mouths
entwined in passionate frenzy.

the chorus beckons to join
the flamboyant parade of
laughter, rhythm, bliss.
a dense coil of white
winds itself, slowly,
into the damp night air
from the pursed lips of a passer-by,
holding his Cuban close to his face,
swaying to beats like a
weak tree in the cruelest of winds.

Thick fingers on frail ivory bones,
leading softly, a loosened grip
now dragging the tune
in maniacle pace,
adding playful sophistication,
as the deep cracks of the drum
continue in the darkness.

toes become legs become arms,
necks and shoulders detatch,
